Hikari

The importance to be human.

An elderly Japanese Catholic from the early 20th century receives a mysterious letter that reminds him of his past as prisoner in a concentration camp during the latest religious persecution in Japan, in which he and other Christian prisoners try to survive to the mistreats of a samurai official, without giving up their faith.

It is a historical drama with a religious background, which speaks of the importance of such human and universal values as love, repentance and forgiveness. The protagonists of this story are simple people who, taken to an extreme situation, find the resources to survive without abandoning their principles and their faith. “Hikari” means light, as image of those feelings that are the only ones capable of defeating the darkness of hatred and rancor.
